I am not a store or a business . Just a guy who needed some cash so I sold my drum set that I really didn't want to sell in the first place. I don't have money right now so I charged for shipping. So I got it all boxed up and ready to go . The buyer paid right away and expected the money that he paid for shipping to be used for..... Shipping! However PayPal doesn't think it's good business practice to give the seller the shipping funds so that the seller can use said funds to ship. Oh , sure PayPal told me that if I used their shipping labels (which cost more money out of my pocket) and used Fedex which they told me would cost double the shipping cost as USPS because of the size but if I went this route I could have some of the shipping money. So like I said, I sold this because I have no money! I called PayPal about this issue several times . I even read the entire paypal policy. I read it them on the phone . Get this, they told me that there is an "internal non public" policy that says I can't have any money until he gets the package. The person on the phone even agreed with me that it makes no sense and it's not a fair policy. I mean really, you can't order on Amazon and then say well, I ordered this product and I am going to have the bank hold the price for the item as well as the shipping cost and I want you to send me the product and you pay for shipping to ship it to me and when I am happy with the whole thing then and only then will I send you the shipping only ! Sometime after that I will send you the rest of the money to actually pay for it . Name one company that would go for that?!?! Oh I know one! PAYPAL! And that is the only one in the world that operates like this . Now to the real reason I am posting here. Had to get that off my chest first . So, I borrowed money so that I could send this guy his package since paypal won't let sellers use the shipping money to ship a product. I posted the tracking number on eBay just as I was told to do. He got the package on the 5th of July. He is happy with it. And now, I am out of a drum set that I didn't really want to sell in the first place and guess what ? I also still have no money! And to top it all off my uncle passed away last night and I can't even go to the supper they are having after the funeral because like I said, I am broke which is why I sold this in the first place. This is starting to look like some sorta scam. He has my drums and they are still MY drums because I don't have a single penny for selling them. Heck at this point all he has to do is say he is not happy and ask for his money back and according to what I was told on the phone if that happened they would issue him a refund right away before he sends me anything back. Then all he has to do is not send them back. Then he will have my drums and my money. Feels like a scam to me. I understand buyer protection but this is just crazy. Now here is the kicker , I own a very large forum that has thousands of people who make high end props from Star Wars. These sell in the thousands of dollars and they are a hot item with hundreds of sales a day. Many have been complaining about PayPal lately. Don't know if there was some sorta policy change that caused people to start having issues with paypal or what. This is the first time I have sold using paypal so I don't know . But I DID have in the rules of the forum that PayPal was the method we use for transactions. That changes tonight ! There are several other payment sites and I will be listing then in the forum soon after I post about this whole thing that is happening to me. That will be the loss of thousands of people and thousands of dollars a day for PayPal. I figure PayPal doesn't really care about it but they should as something like this often starts a trickle down. People that want to buy products on my forum are going to ask the companies there why we don't use Paypal and they will be told why. Then those people stop using it and so on. Word of mouth is powerful. Heck I never adverstied my forum . It was word of mouth only and it worked well! All I want is MY money for the drums that I sold and we're delivered! The transaction is done on the buyers side, so why don't I have my money for my drums? Show me the money! Yes I went there! Lol! So far as I can see, PayPal is a SELLER BEWARE site!
