Homeaway sent refund to an email not an account

I sent a Homeaway owner a deposit for a rental.  The owners are reimbursing us for leaving the rental in clean, good condition.  However, the owners sent it to my husband's email address.  He doesn't have an account.  (He doesn't need one either) I am the one that has the account and sent them the deposit and rental payments..  How do they cancel the payment to an account that doesn't exist? ...
