Hi, i recently purchased a phone from an ebay auction seller through a private conversation on ebay. We agreed on the price $300 (i even asked her to take the auction off - she did) and she told me that she couldn't find a way to pay on ebay so she instructed me to pay via paypal using family n friends. I agreed because i thought paypal would cover for any scam but then in less than 48hrs i found out something fishy going on. I went on ebay to check like usual and found out that the ebay seller who sold me the product had unregistered. I contacted the seller via email that she used to collect my payment, the first message- i could sent it, second time i tried to sent her another email, google told me she had blocked my email. I then went onto my bank account and paypal account to tried to stop the payment - i couldnt cos it is already completed. I contacted ebay, they said they could not do anything as she is not registered anymore and told me to call paypal, which i did and found out that paypal wont cover it due to i did the transaction in the family n friends, rather than services n goods. They told me that they tried to call the seller - she didnt response n told me that they would send an email to ask the seller to pay me back (the seller paypal account is still activate). I contacted my bank to make a claim which they did but they said i might not be able to get the money back. Paypal, u should have clearly state at the family n friends that this section here is not covered under your buyer's protection otherwise there will be more buyer like myself fall into this loophole that u created. I had this trust in paypal that they will protect buyer from scam but i didnt know this family n friends section is a loophole for scam seller to trick buyer. I really want to have my money back, please help me.
