Preferred payment option (bank acct) not available...

Hello- All day trying to sort this out. A PP accepting seller (from Canada) sent  a PP invoice to me asking for the correct payment (which he entered in USD). I select the Pay Invoice button and only my two credit cards are offered as choices to pay. pop-up says your preferred method of payment is not available. I have tried all I could and read all day and don't see why my linked/confirmed bank checking account (which has worked at least a 100 times before) will not become available to pay these two invoices. I told seller it's not working, he doesn't understand saying he sells to USA via  PP daily.     The only other thing I can think to try is transferring funds from my bank to my PP balance & select that as my preferred payment method, to see if that comes up as a choice of payment. Problem is what a hassle if it's not recognized either and I have hundreds now sitting in the balance I would need to re-transfer back to bank.     Also, when the pop up window appeared to select between my two credit cards (and saying my preferred bank method not available) to pay the invoice, I could scroll down further to see it allowed me to add a debit card. I added my new PP Key Master card number multiple times but it says please enter a valid number. So, PP doesn't recognize it's own debit card which has only worked for me 1 time. I have read of many other PP users of the PP debit card who also find it unacceptable at most venders.   This is really a stretch trying to find help with this mess without PP employees answering these quetions. But, by chance maybe someone had this happen to them....Thanks for any input or direction to further information out there- Bob ... View more

Well, thanks for your help. I have never had an insufficient funds problem in any way with PayPal or my credit cards or bank for that matter. According to your reply, I read it that it should be in PayPals interest to have me use my bank, so it doesn't make sense to me. The buyer states several credit cards that are accepted and PayPal. Nowhere does seller say he doesn't accept using a bank account through PayPal, the bank account is backed up with the credit cards on top of it. As you say, if it's nothing to do with buying overseas then it must be some clitch in my account which will never be fixed. Although it sure works well buying in the continental USA. Robes- ... Hello Sumiko-   Just happens that the eBay item I tried to buy was a Sumiko Black Bird HOMC cartridge for a stereo turntable. It is being shipped from Hong Kong and for that reason I must believe I had the problem. I have a verified bank account, address etc. and been with PayPal/eBay as buyer & seller for years never with any problems as this. I have my preferred buying preference defaulted to my bank account, not either of two credit cards (which back up the bank account). I bet anything if I had used a credit card it would work but wanted to draw on my personal bank account because I had more then enough cash there to purchase the item. PayPal would not use my bank and a window popped up offering options to use either a credit card or PayPal credit. So I decided to try PayPal credit, but it wouldn't give me the "Credit" although it offered for me to use it.    I went back into the item again (started over the purchase sequence a couple times) and using my preferrerd bank account default hit BUY again, I don't exactly remember the way it worked but I got the same unacceptable method and the two options to use again but somehow I reselected the bank and double clicked buy a couple times and it accepted it. I have never had any problem with it before & actually bought another item after having this problem as a way to see it was still working. Normally, with the bank accout that is backed up with credit card there is immediate transfer of funds but that did not happen and for whatever reason it took several days for PayPal to pay the seller using the bank account in the end. I'm writting it off to buying overseas, it's all I can come up with. PasyPal also said when I went through the paper work to buy the item using their credit that I would be notified why I didn't receive it is in fact I didn't qualify for it- I never was given a reason why I couldn't get the credit. I originally thought since I couldn't use the bank account I would use PP credit then immediately pay off the PP credit using the bank account- guess they figured that but insisted I don't use the bank account (yet in the end used it to buy the item by continuing to select buy button). Go figure.... ... View more

Ebay Item Accepts: Paypal, Visa/Mastercard....- Wh...

I select Buy It Now. Next page appears and says PAYMENT: PayPal, Visa/Mastercard  & BLUE BUTTON " Commit to buy". I have my Bank account set as primary with Visa back-up. I get error I have to use credit card or PayPal Credit. I don't want to use credit card (I have cash in bank account), I select PayPal credit & it will not allow. Therefore I can't buy an item that I have 10's of thousands of dollars in an account to buy a trivial item! It makes me mad. I went through this before and simply had eBay cancel the order which worked and I received no "strikes" against me. But, I want this item & again want to pay it from my bank account & I know the same is going to happen. Both times the seller is from Hong Kong but has impecable ebay stats. Does this happen because it's a foreign transaction? but my bank account if fully backed by my credit card why? Thanks for any insight. Robes-   P.S. simply can't address the issue with PayPal or eBay (except eBay will cancel the order or at least try to). ... View more

ebay invoice auto debited from PayPal, options her...

Hello-     My ebay invoice is set to debit from my automatic payment method which is PayPal. When I use PayPal as a buyer I can select the PayPal method of payment before the transaction is finaled, I can choose between  any of my credit cards or my "default" bank checking account. If I don't actively choose an alternate credit card PayPal auto defaults to my banks checking account.     I understand that if the checking account were depleted that it would backup using my credit card. I don't like the thought of that occuring automatically since I assume the ebay invoice will automatically be paid by the default checking account. PayPal could draw the checking account dry, causing a fee from my bank for drawing beyond the minimum required ballance and auto close the checking account.     I see I can change the ebay invoice auto payment method from PayPal to Credit or Debit cards which remain on file with ebay. Ideally, why can't I keep the PayPal auto payment but select a credit card instead of the checking default payment to pay the invoice? I have never seen where you have any choice in selecting a default payment method at PayPal, as far as I can see it's fixed as your (my) checking account.     I hope this is understandable, I'm a scientist not a banker- Thank You for any comments, Robes ...
