I have just received the following from PayPal's support team.   "We respect your decision of opting out from receiving autodialed or prerecorded message. Don't worry because I already took care of it. The blog does not address our concerns.  The privacy policy states;   "You consent to receive autodialed or prerecorded calls and text messages from ..." a bunch of organizations for a bunch of reasons, including " poll your opinions through surveys or questionnaires" and "offers and promotions". I guess I have until 1 July to cancel my PayPal account and protect my cellphone.... It appears I can't simply unlist my phone as they say I am agreed to allow them to call "any telephone number that you have provided us or that we have otherwise obtained".   Post a blog statement explaining why that is needed ... and if you cannot justify that range of intrusion, change the policy.     For one, I cannot accept of understand the need to be allowed to call "any telephone number that you have provided us or that we have otherwise obtained".  I have had many phone numbers over the years that may still be connected to my name in some archive.  I would hate to have you calling those numbers and harrasing the current users "in my name". ... I have been a member since 2002. Unless they correct their proposed changes, I will be canceling my account on June 30th. I will not bother to request that I be exempt. The policy is wrong and immoral. I will not support them going forward, unless they reverse it.   PS - I am choosing July 30th to ensure they understand why their membership has dropped. I am not waiting until July 15th, simply because I do not trust them. ... View more
