Re: How Do I Pay PayPal--same problem

It's odd timing that your comment just came up because I just severed my relationship with PayPal.  I did call them back when I received this reply, explained to them that I wanted online purchase to go against the credit card that I furnished, and the representative told me that they would make sure that my account was set up accordingly.  I recently made a purchase, and ran into the same problem.  I suddenly had a PayPal balance, and they wanted me to link to a bank account to settle it.  I called again, was told that they would waive a late fee, and make the charge go against my credit card, but that there was interest of $2.00 on my $59.99 purchase.  I paid the balance with the credit card, and I paid their $2.00 charge just to be done with them.  I still don't understand why they complicate something that should be simple, but I'm not wasting any more time on it.  I'll just make purchase with my credit card.  What I had hoped would be an additonal layer of protection turned out to be an ineffective and obscure system that I have no use for.  Good luck. @Its_an_opinion wrote: I have the same problem as @MyNameHere.  Does your answer mean that the PayPal website can't be used to pay a PayPal Credit balance from a debit or credit card?  Can payments using a card only be done by calling "the PayPal Credit team directly", or can it be accomplished through Twitter or FaceBook only?   Not being able to pay online is a deal-breaker for me.  If I wanted to spend time on hold I'd simply call the company and skip PayPal entirely!  I hope someone at PayPal.com intends to resolve this problem before the Fall shopping rush....   ... Ok...responding to my own post.  I tried customer support again, and received an email response within an hour.  The response said that "we do not accept credit card payments online."  I called the number that they provided, and was able to pay off my PayPal balance using my credit card.  That's what I wanted all along.  The representative also explained how to make my purchases go to the credit card.    My experience with customer supported suddenly went from poort to great.  A person answered within two minutes after I got through the menu.  Maybe I just got the good ones today.  They were pleasant and helpful.   Trying to find answers on the PayPal website is an exercise in dead ends, convolution, and circular references.  All of the answers may be in the fine print, but I need simple and clear explanations.  Connecting with the right human makes a big difference.  At any rate I will remain a PayPal user for the time being because of a couple of helpful people. ... I am just venting at this point.  It is clear that I will find no solution to the simple problem of how to pay my bill.  PayPal staff does not seem to exist on these boards.  I have written customer support for the last time as follows:   "I have a credit card linked to PayPal. I have a payment to PayPal due on 12/13. When I try to pay off my balance I get a message saying that I don't have a bank account linked. I am not linking a bank account. I'm using my credit card. Your web site doesn't work. Your support group does not respond to questions. I have tried in good faith to pay my entire balance. How do I pay my balance with my linked credit card? Please respond this time. This is no way to do business.   PS. do not attempt to assess a late charge. I have been trying to resolve this problem for many days with no response from your customer support.   cc: file"   Life is complicated enough, so I keep things that work and discard things that don't work.  I'll send them a check if nothing else works.  ... How Do I pay PayPal?

I have a PayPal balance.  A payment is due in a few days.  I want to pay the balance using my linked credit card.  When I click the payment button I get a message saying that I don't have a linked bank account which is true.  I don't intend to link a bank account.  My whole reason for signing up was to use a credit card (credit card would be protected, I'd get points on the credit card, etc), and then to pay the credit card balance monthly with my bank account.  I tried asking PayPal customer support, but they sent me a canned answer that did not address my question.  If it comes down to it I guess that I could just mail them a check along with an instruction to close the account.  This experience so far seems to be more trouble than benefit.  What am I missing? ...
