I bought an item on ebay yesterday and at checkout it automatically linked my PayPal account and copied my PayPal address book. I complained to ebay who replied: "The purpose of adding your address book to eBay address book is for verification purposes. Also, when you purchase an item it will be helpful for confirming if addresses specified on eBay and PayPal are different." I don't see any advantage to me of having ebay copying my PayPal address book. It certainly breaches UK and EU data protection laws. I appreciate ebay and PayPal are one and the same thing, but who else can just copy my private address book without my express permission?! Thanks.
