On a recent purchase, I was given the Option to add a donation to the Humane Society of the United States. HSUS is NOT alliliated with any of your local Humane Societies, and does not operate a single Animal Shelter. Instead, they spend huge amounts of donated money on lawsuits to stop or restrict legal hunting or fishing. They capitalize on the good good name and reputation of these legitimateHumane Societies that operate Animal rescue facilities to pay their Executives exorbitant salaries. A very small percentage of the money they collect is actually used to benefit animals or wildlife. I think if E-Bay wants to help wildlife, they should be promoting organizations that actually care about and support animal conservation, such as the National Wild Turkey Foundation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or the Safari Club International. these groups actually fund activities that promote wildlife, such as buying and preserving property, initiating transplanting operations to expand wildlife's range. Additionally, these groups understand that regulated hunting is the most important wildlife management tool there is, that hunting and fishing contribute billions of dollars annually to wildlife conservation efforts, and that hunters and fishermen are the real conservationalists.
