This has happened to me twice. I know the quick solution is to add money to my pp balance. I am going to the effort of writting this so change can happen. Here is what happens. I sell and item and recieve the money plus the cost of shipping. I then create a shipping label with that money. Here is where change needs to happen. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WITH UPS as far as I know. UPS contract is either limited by papal or they limited it on the UPS side, will not allow UPS to access anything but your "Paypal Balance". Now when you create the lable it appears as if UPS is paid...it shows up as a deduction from your papal account. You are able to ship AND DELIVER the item to the customer. Where I run into problems is when UPS does not deliver on time. Every now and then I dump the money from my paypal into my checking account...most auction places want checks or cash..not any type of card. I have spent hours trying to figure out what to do.....what I have discovered is that UPS does ping the Paypal Balance to see if there is money in there to pay for the shipping label. I suspect it is the next day that they let go of the funds because as part of their business structure you really don't pay for the shipping label until the package arrives at the customers location. Now they will go back and try to get the funds out of the Paypal Balance. Well if they run late or it could be that I have transfered all the funds to my checking account (note: because they just ping your account to see if there is money, there is nothing in your paypal account status that shows that you have a bill to UPS pending) UPS cannot get there money. You will get a notice in your email that a payment has been denied. You will have to then transfer money into your paypal from another source. Yes, even if you have back up payment methods available, you will need to physically go in and transfer money into the Paypal Balance. I know it doesn't seem like it is a big deal to go ahead and make the transfer but my concern is with my good standing with Paypal and UPS. The best part is, if you want to pay UPS directly...you can't. Even if you have an account with them. It will show that you have nothing due. You cannot pay them directly, even with a tracking number - which they will look up and see that you do owe for that shipment. Extremely frustrating. Trust me, in these two occurances I have spent hours both times with UPS (I think I have 6 different numbers now) and Paypal asking them if I am doing something wrong, which I am not, and if they would please bring this before the "higher ups" to make a change so that UPS can get their money smoothly. I am not concerned about putting money back into the Paypal Balance, I am concerned about my good standing with Paypal and UPS. The only solution that I can come up with, unless changes are made, is to no longer use UPS. This isn't good for my customers, it isn't good for my business. The other option is to not get a discounted rate for UPS shipping through paypal and just go directly to their site to pay for a shipping label. Either way, my customers loose. I hope this little rant will start a movement for change. Please comment if you have had a problem with this. This way, perhaps, we can become a congregation of voices, not just one voice every now and then! Join with me, change happens when you get involved. Don't think it won't happen to you. Think that it does happen and it should be changed!
