Okay, so I sold something for $240. PayPal takes a $7.26 fee. All fine. So then the person wants a full refund (never mind the reason—doesn't matter), and I say fine. I issue a full refund. So PayPal refunds the $240 and reimburses me $6.96. Now, I realize that it's $6.96 because of the 30-cent refund processing charge. ($7.26 – 30 cents = $6.96.) Fine.
But, now, here's where it gets confusing. After all this, it says I have a negative balance of 30 cents. In order to rectify it, I paid 30 cents from my credit card so my balance would go to zero immediately.
Now, math has never been my forte, but it seems like I was charged 30 cents TWICE, once when I was refunded the fee less 30 cents, and again when I gave PayPal 30 cents from my credit card to rectify the negative-30-cent balance.
As I wrote in the subject line, a mistake on PayPal's part—or something I'm not understanding?
P.S. I hope the buyer was refunded the full $240 and didn't have to pay fees on her end.
Can ANYONE shed any light on this?
Thank you!
Laura
