What you need to do is go to your local police station. I doubt they can do much but it's worth a shot to talk to a detective. Likely unless it's grand theft nobody is going to be showing up at this guys door step. Take it as a lesson learned, craigslist does state don't conduct business with out of state buyers and too, you should never turn over an item until payment is received regardless of how they are paying.

Just kind of thinking out loud here, but with any luck, someone from Paypal will see this. I've only used it once, the second time I tried, it said my card was not set up to use the machine. Not the most sophisticated technology, but it comes in handy if you really need it. Like today, I need to go deposit my piggy bank into my Paypal account so I can pay a last minute expense. Anyways, there are three coin stars within a 5 mile radius of me. Only one is set up for Paypal. As you may have heard, Albertsons is going to be closing 11 stores, one of which houses my local Coinstar/Paypal machine. Wonder if they will expand this feature to more stores.

I got the following message today from a company I do mystery shops for: " [company] is not required to issue a 1099-MISC to independent contractors for the 2013 tax year. Under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 6050W, U.S. payment processors, including PayPal, are required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to provide information to the IRS about certain customers who receive payments for the sale of goods or services through PayPal." Technically I did not sell them a service. I filled out a job application, signed an independent contractor agreement. This is the only company of dozens that has mentioned this. Are they correct to do this? Either way I did not make 20,000 last year and certainly didnt earn 600 from them. I dont expect a 1099 from this company or paypal. Just curious.
