I was experiencing a similar problem (which is what brought me to your question). Although it took some time to decypher (the transactions history was a bit confusing with currency conversions, etc.), I finally figured out what happened: I had transferred $50 to my paypal acc't from my bank acc't; I placed an order for $39+, which meant I had a balance of $10+; I later placed an order for $26+ & paid with my attached credit card. They used my $10+ towards my order & billed my credit card only the remainder. I have no idea if this might help, or if your situation is completely different...just puttin' it out there! Cheers!
