Just had the same thing and sussed it out after I had sent a complaint to Paypal. My payment was to a website (not ebay) that gave a paypal payment option. Instead of paying by card the payment was taken directly from my account. Therefore it showed up as a direct debit from my account to paypal. The payment showing on my statement was two days later than the payment which showed on my paypal transactions. And it didn't have the websites name the payment was made to on my statement, just a REF & MANDATE NO. Yet on paypal transactions it stated the website I had paid to. After I had calmed down and tallied the amonts I realised what the payment was. Sorry paypal for cluttering up your complaints box.
