The problem is quite simple, though it does jeopardize the continuation of my long-standing account with E-bay and, by extension, with Paypal. To simplify: Due to the inundation of unsolicited telemarketing calls and text messages, I no longer maintain an incoming telephone line, (and I am not alone in opting for privacy). All of my outgoing calls are placed over an Internet resource. Because of the new "trust" regulation, requiring a telephonic communication at the point of placing a bid or 'buy now' the acquisition of an item I've been watching for three (3) days was stymied. Both outsourced Ebay telephone associates in the Middle-east, and Paypal customer service representatives state that their hands are tied, while asserting that the new regulation is trust-based. Suffice it to say that, if after more than 8 years of proven manifold transaction completions, prompt payments, and clear communications one would expect that I have earned this thing called "trust." Since this new policy threatens to alienate many other privacy-minded account holders, not to mention reduce the number of bidding increments on 'hot' items of interest and, which will negatively impact revenues, suggest Ebay (and by extension, Paypal) limit the phone call verifications to unproven account holders while allowing long-term customers the privilege of continuing unimpeded. After investing several unproductive hours communicating with both companies, I would appreciate any suggestions on a prompt, positive and solution-oriented communication on this matter.
