I'm relatively new to Pay Pal so I'm just now getting up to speed on this Bill Me Later issue. When creating my accout for pay pal I vaguely remember anything about bill me later. In fact it didn't jump out at me as a credit card. Also in the sign up process for Pay Pal the Bill Me Later portion which was brief seemed like a requirement. I'm in IT and I write software for a living so I spend a lot of time on boards and websites. I was very mislead by the Pay Pal - Bill Me Later process. When I received a call from the support tech -Mathew from Bill Me Later. I was completely surprised. I didn't know it was a line of credit I didn't know they ran my credit. I ended up explaining to the guy that this is all very misleading and sort of sleezy. I could tell by the remorse in his voice that he honestly felt that way too. I for one think if your signing up for Pay Pal you should sign up for pay pal. If they have another service or company they wish us to sign up for they should let you know later. They should not be paired because it's clearly there to mislead the consumer and to get them to sign up for a Bill Me Later account which they can charge interest on. Back in 99 I signed up for a Pay Pal account and I remember alot of this same type of underhanded activity. I think that's why I never signed up again. But after seeing the guy who founded the company going into space I thought it can't be all bad so i set up an account again. Clearly this is just another online company looking for any angle to pilfer money out of it's customers. If I walked into a bank, and lets face it that's what Pay Pal is or should be, If I walked into a bang and they pulled this same type of manuever, which is basically a bait and switch sort of gimic. That bank would be shut down in minutes and the FED would be walking the stewards out in handcuffs. I did sit on hold for about 30 minutes dieing to speak with someone from Pay Pal but no one answered. I just really came in here to vent. I already filed a consumer complaint with the attorney generals office in MN. Perhaps Lori Swanson and the government will be able to weigh in on the Bill Me Later issue. I doubt they will do it on this forum though. To all you people out there who will attempt to defend Pay Pals actions. Ask yourself what if this was your grandma or daughter or mother who got caught up in this sceme. Would you want them to go through this same treatment just becaus they want to sell a few items on eBay?
