I opened a new ebay account to handle differnt stuff from what I normally do, and several transactions triggered this 21 day hold. In each case I immediately refunded the payment and explained to buyers that I would not release the goods until cleared funds had reached me (the normal ebay way). Being bona-fide decent buyers EVERY ONE of them made suitable arrangements to make prompt payment, and NONE OF THEM had been advised by paypal that the funds had been withheld. Just make it a rule guys NOT TO DISPATCH if this smarmy paypal dialogue comes up. First time I saw it I thought 'wtf...? Paypal are going to hold my money while somebody enjoys my goods for 3 weeks and makes his mind up whether he'll authorise payment or not??? Try that at your local supermarket or petrol station! Yes you will lose a few quid to pp for reversing the transaction, so they win either way, but at least you haven't sent your goods into 'NEVER-NEVER LAND'. The usual high- handed bo**ocks from banks.
