Over 2 weeks ago I made a payment to a store via Paypal. However they had issues receiving the payment from Paypal, who were holding it in pending (it's a small family jeweller, and suspect they hadn't validated their paypal acct fully). In the end they asked me to pay via another means, and they cancelled/refunded the payment. That was on 5 May. At the time, PayPal emailed me and stated: "E J Wright & Son issued a £x,xxx.xx GBP refund The money has been refunded to your PayPal balance. It will be made available on or around 13 May 2020." Then today, a further email states: "This email confirms that the Pending Refund you received for £x,xxx.xx GBP from xxxxx has cleared. The funds are now reflected in your PayPal balance." However they're now saying I have to wait a further 2-6 business days for the money to clear. My card payment is due on Friday (15th), and this payment is actually on the card twice, as this original payment via PayPal still hasn't refunded. I have contacted PayPal via Message Centre to ask why they haven't just made it available in my PayPal balance as their 2 emails suggest, but all that keeps happening is the useless CS staff pretend I've been inactive (when I absolutely haven't) and dump me back in a queue to wait an hour or more for the next numpty to reply. I made financial decisions based on their 2 emails, which both clearly stated the money would be available today, on the 13th. I believe that legally they should have followed through on this, and by not doing so I will incur a financial hardship and be out of pocket as a result. Yet I can't get to speak to anyone - even when I asked to make a complaint, they replied pretending that I'd been inactive and ditched the chat.

Hi all, I am due a payment from someone in the UAE (I am in UK) for £4,000. However I have explained to him multiple times he will need to send more than £4,000 in order to cover the fee. I had expected a 3.4% fee but for some reason Paypal deducted £216.20. Either way I'm now worse off. So I'm going to refund the payment, however the relevant page states "When you refund a payment for goods or services, we contribute the variable portion of the original transaction fee to the refund, and we keep the fixed-fee portion of that fee from your account. For more details, refer to the page How do PayPal refunds work? or the section that discusses fees in the User Agreement." Does this mean even if I process the refund, Paypal is going to keep that £216.20? I'm not even sure he's send the money in the correct way - I told him to use the 'Send Money' and then Friends & Family option, and then he would have the choice to pay the fee up-front for the currency conversion and I'd have no fee when receiving the money. But then he asked me to send him a money request. We really just want to reverse his initial attempt and try again, how do we do this?

I wish I had known this beforehand... This Peter Toye is at it again. Fast Canvas Prints was abandoned, and Your Image on Canvas has replaced it. I fell into the same trap as most of you - ordered via a voucher site, and then paid more directly to YIOC for postage and finishing on canvas. I ordered 13 November 2012, waaay before their Christmas delivery deadline. I'd ordered a 2nd canvas about 15 days later. Nothing arrived for Christmas. Emails unanswered, other than waiting 8-10 days for standard bulk response. Calls go nowhere - I used my business phone to call and sit in their queue - 126 minutes and it was still unanswered, yet my position in the queue would apparently change (up and down!). Eventually, I received a canvas last week. It was the 2nd order. It has a large, very obvious blemish on it which would have easily been noticed with even the most basic of quality check. No reply to further attempts to contact them. They have stopped taking Paypal as a method of payment. I can only assume they lost too much from refunds last year. Now you MUST pay via Moneybookers/Skrill. This seems to do nothing for the customer other than place a barrier between you and the company. I have traced the payment to Toye Graphics Limited, and Peter Toye. I am in the process of barraging their facebook and twitter. I have also contacted the voucher site, because quite frankly it is their fault for endorsing the company in the first place - they obviously hadn't done their homework, and have led to many people being scammed. By the look of their facebook page, it's a lot of people (they are even deleting people's comments off FB!). However I also happen to have managed to find out, that his company registered address of 15 St David's Grove, Eskbank, Edinburgh, EH22 3FG - is actually still inhabited by family. I don't live very far from there. Maybe they'll be more helpful if I turn up at the door with my order details, crappy canvas, and demand my money back? I'll see if I can arrange for someone to film it, might be interesting...
