kernowlass, thank you yet again for your kind thoughts. To update you all - PANIC OVER - but what a nightmare. As I thought, my branch could not help me, so I girded my loins metaphorically and hit the 'phone. The young woman who dealt with me knew all about this problem with Paypal - it is apparently v common. However, the 'code' was nowhere easily or obviously to hand and she had to raise a query with the 'electronic receiving' dept to check all credits (presumably for the entire bank dept for that day) in order to find the information. Which worked and I have transferred my money. So my advice to everyone with this problem is that the bank does have it, but it is not necessarily visible to either you, or to front-line staff - which seems unnecessarily complex to me, as I assume not all bank staff will be as willing to make life difficult for the back office. ... Thank you again, kernowlass. However, I have emailed my bank - obviously waiting for reply as w/end - but have also in the interim, managed to obtain 'official' statement. This, as I suspected, shows absolutely NO 4-digit code, so I am doubtful as to whether the bank physically holds hidden stashes of secret information regarding my account, to which they have access and I don't. I am willing to make the trek to bank tomorrow and enquire, but assuming that they will not be able to help, what exactly am I supposed to do to access what is, after all, my OWN money; PayPal surely cannot wash their hands of this - being tantamount to theft/fraud of my funds? Forgive me, I mean no particular disrespect at this precise moment, but am becoming deeply troubled, and my partner is beginning to wonder about legal action. ... View more

thank you for your reply, kernowlass. However, this current account only sends an 'official' paper statement about once a year as everything is done online; if I go to the branch, they can't access it; I will try downloading a paper statement, but usually that duplicates exactly what is on the 'online'' statement. So am I totally up the creek without a paddle? ... View more

am desperately trying to 'verify' my account. Have used Paypal for years with no problems, but as have recently rec'd a largish payment which I would like to transfer, I can't until I 'verify'. All well and good, but there is NO, repeat NO 4-DIGIT CODE next to the deposit into said account. So how am I supposed to access my own money and what exactly do I do about the 'CODE'.   help, please, I really need to resolve this. Thanks to you all in advance Sewlady ... View more
