To all of the debunkers (who frankly I grow tired of their insults) the only argument you have for me when I provided proof that my Canadian bank provided a fairer exchange rate than PayPal was to claim that my bank made a mistake.   I have provided the proof...look at old messages from months ago. Look at the posting of my receipt from the Bank of Nova Scotia plus another receipt from another user and you will see very quickly that PayPal is overcharging / gouging on currency exchange.   PayPal is not even in the ballpark with respect to competitive exchange rates. ... View more

So as you can see by this receipt PayPal is out to lunch with their currency coversions. What is being said on this forum by PayPal  is blantly not true.   PayPal knows who I am and can see that I have never whinned or complained about anything in all of my years of being a loyal customer. While I agree that fees are necessary to any business model, there come a tipping point when the fees are excessive. I do not need to look at rates, I just need to look at bottom line. When I try to withdraw around $150 US funds from PayPal to my Canadian bank and am only going to get around $140 CDN and when my wife is paid over $10 by her bank to buy $680 US, there is something wrong.   Change your rates PayPal or you will be buried by fair competition. ... Not true. Simply not true. My wife bought $680 US funds from her bank on Friday, April 8th, 2011 for a cost of $669.80 in Canadian funds. You are significantly overcharging compared to Canadian banks as currently you are only offering 0.933390 Canadian for $1 US. Receipt in hand if I need to prove this. ... View more

Agreed but when it approaches 5 - 10 basis points that is an excessive fee. In fact, in Canada, it may be considered gouging, which is illegal.   The rate of exchange on here is over the top. No amount of cheerleading or fluff can justify it. ... View more
