Why not direct checkout?  It's a question of control.  The more control I give to Etsy the less I have.  Here's an analogy: I have Comcast for TV and internet.  They keep trying to sell me their phone also.  I answer they already control my TV and internet and if I also give up control of my phone and they have a problem or lose power, I lose all three.    Cash and money orders bring too many more headaches.    I may try one more time to talk to someone on the phone.  Thanks for the tips.    ... Thank you, kernowlass. I must be losing brain cells over this! Your responses seem to take us back to where we started. Some questions:   This sentence from "David" seems to suggest that my account should be valid to receive payments as it is.   This would have no impact anymore regarding payments received for items that are being sold. There are no restrictions anymore like there would have been with Personal Accounts.   And your comment seems to say the same thing.  "Group name" - what does it refer to? My Etsy shop names?    So if you are a seller that does not operate under a group name you are fine with your personal account which is in fact a premier account.   By the way, I tried the link before in your message to "Express Checkout" and I get this error message: "You have requested an outdated version of PayPal. This error often results from the use of bookmarks."  Perhaps one of you can refer this to the powers-that-be in Paypal.   Also, do any of you know a way that I could reach someone at Paypal with authority to answer my questions, who knows what Etsy is (the last person I talked to didn't know what it was), is based in the U.S., and can give me the definitive answer I can take back to Etsy?  Otherwise, I will probably just cancel the Paypal option on Etsy.  I'll keep my personal Paypal account - I like it a lot.   The good thing is that this ongoing discussion has helped me understand the issues involved.        ... OKAY, with all of your responses I think I am getting down to the nitty-gritty .... and i think I'm **bleep**, to put it frankly.  I have the "standalone Paypal" with etsy.  I did not want to sign up for the direct checkout option.  Here was Etsy's final answer:   After review of the issue by various teams, it seems most likely that you need to upgrade your account to a premiere or business account in order to continue accepting PayPal payments. We are detecting no issues with checkout at this time. Since the account is standalone, Etsy does not have much information or access to the details, but this is the most probable solution.   You say I can open a second Paypal account, but I will have to check because if it requires another bank account that's not going to happen.  And at this point I don't know how Etsy will react if I want to change the Paypal account but still use standalone.    Lots to think about here.  Unless I start making a lot more money on Etsy, none of this will be worth my time.  But I want to thank you for taking the time to help me sort this out.  I have received tons more help here than I got from Etsy.  Thank you!     ... Sorry - to clarify, I was talking about the costs associated with establishing a sub-S or corporate account, not a Paypal account.  I would have to do that again, wouldn't I, in order to have a business account on Paypal?   ... View more

Much appreciated.  However, I need a DEFINITIVE answer about Etsy sales - whether or not my account as currently set up can and should accept customer payments from Etsy.  Etsy is telling me I have to have a business account on Paypal, not a personal account.   Yes?
