Thanks again. I think I have it figured out and it comes down to there having been a change with the Postal Service, and RubyLane either didn't get the updated info incorporated or I missed the how to update notice when away. I see that PayPal is faultless in this one and I thank you so much for taking the time to answer so throually.  ... View more

@lancelotme wrote: USPS first class package from 2 ounces up to 8 ounces ,you pay $2.60 including free tracking. over 8 ounces, you pay more .maximum weight is 16 ounces. It saves you a trip to the post office. if you go to the post office you pay the same rate, but not sure if tracking is included, buying a green slip DC may cost you,I HAVE NOT BEEN To post office for eons,so I dont know.  OK, So we are talking PayPal prices are 2 to 8 ounces for $2.60. This is printing and buying my lables via PayPal, and not Ebay or another vender. (just trying to clairafy everything in my head.) Did this change recently? I didn't sell anything last month due to being in the hospital. So this month when I did I noted the difference in Pay Pal postage prices. Was a notice sent out and can you point me to where it is? I am asking this because the Venue I sell on (Ruby Lane) Pre calculates postage when a sale goes through, and they invoice the Post Office Prices. (Example 1 to 3 ounces were $2.45) so the customer is invoiced the price of product + postage at Postal Rates. When we come to Pay Pal to print the physical lable, in the past it was always at a discounted rate to what we charged the customer. Usually a few cents. Now if it has changed...I am loosing out on postage until I get to 4 or more ounces. (Ruby Lane pricing)    I see what you mean by what the USPS Postage Calculator is saying, $2.62 for 2 Oz. So Pay Pal is still discounting a little at least. I guess I need something to go back to my vender with and say hay, you need to change the calculators.  Perhaps you have already helped all you can, and I will site USPS Calculator as my reference. Writing this out to you has actually helped me get it into my head. The rates changed At USPS and my vender didn't get the news yet.  Thank you to all that responded. Your a great bunch of folks to have to turn to. : )    And while I am bothering you for answers. What is a Green Slip? Is this something only for eBay?  ... View more

I am a very small business and only shop a few packages a month. The 1st Calss shipping cost in a package or Thick envelope come up at $2.60 for 2 Oz, 3 Oz, and 5 Oz which are the last few packages I mailled. The Post Office only charges $2.45 for 1 to 3 Oz. So I am loosing .15 cents on small packages and gaining on the larger ones. I sell through Ruby Lane, which pre calculates shipping, so my customers pay what they should.    Is this a glitch specific only to me, or just what is going on. Pay Pal used to be a few cents less than the post office price   I am confused as to who to ask about this, so any help you can offer to have it resolved would be wonderful.    Thank you.  ... Does any one know if the pay pal shipping glitches are a real problem or not. I see other posts that show off and on others have had the same "shipping is not available" error mssg come up when trying to print a label for a customer. I see complaints, but not solutions.    If no one has the answer, how do I contact paypal to report it and get it fixed. It has not worked for three days now and I have had to ship packages over the counter. Not a cost saving move at all!  I hate paying 75 cents for a tracking number.    All I want to do is use my account, is that too much  to ask for?   Please someone tell me how to fix this.   Also, it was telling me that my buyer did not have a confirmed address, and the address is exactly as the post office says it should read. What is up??   Sign me "Confused" ... View more

Re: New $2 Fee about to stiffle paypal purchases?

From what you are saying, you need to change banks. It is your bank that is charging the fee, not pay pal. Try switching to a credit union, lots of good things at credit unions and they do not charge you fees like this. Also, I don't think you can make your customers pay  for charges like this. I think the IRS believes it is the "cost of doing business" and frowns upon that.  ... View more
