Re: Subscriptions

To be clear:   - the email you get sent by Paypal when a subscription doesn't go through has a link to a subscriptions page. Sadly this link does not work. (Sep 16). Paypal have changed their web site but not updated the things that refer to it.   - payment options (cards etc.) set up for normal transactions do not apply to subscriptions. I can't imagine why not, but there you are.  This is probably the source of much frustration.   - to restart a subscription by changing the cards that pay it, click on Activity, then select a payment that did work to the payee. Clicking on this brings up a bunch of details.  Click on Manage payments to ..  This brings up the details that you want.   - updates the details as necessary.   Now it should work.   It would be most helpful if the email that was sent actually linked to the appropriate page.  Also, it would help if the term Subscriptions was used instead of Pre-approved payments.   Stuart ... Same problem here.  Sat through endless stupid advertisements while waiting for a real customer service person and finally just hung up.  Sent an email, but the solution had nothing to do with my problem.  Sent another email.  Cannot update my subscription, no idea why it was declined.  Finally paid for it using another site.  Paypal has been no help at all. ... Hi, I got the very same problem as jennyf, I got subscriptions and all I get is a mail,   Payment failed, go to this blablabla page to Choose A Funding Source, but it is not possible to choose one.   This simply **bleep**, the page implies that you SHOULD be able to but something is wrong.   Either fix it so we can select a funding source   OR   change the page and state from the start that subscriptions are **bleep**ed from the get go and we better use another funding system, thank you. ... This is the same old b***s*** that I have had from a string of Paypal helpdesk people.   There appear to be two types of subscription/recurring payment on my pre-approved payment list. On one type, you can change the funding source with no problem.   On other subscriptions you get three greyed out radio buttons which you cannot check any of them.   NO PAYMENT should be permanently tied to a funding source to the extent that if that funding source expires (as credit and debit cards do) and the new source has a different number (normal with UK banks) the whole subscription just fails.   All payments set up on a Paypal account should follow the same funding method that you set for the whole account. If you add cards and make a different one the primary source, then all subscriptions should follow. But they don't.   IT IS A PAYPAL BUG AND YOU ARE REFUSING TO FIX IT.   YOU ARE INSULTING OUR INTELLIGENCE BY TELLING US TO DO SOMETHING ON YOUR SYSTEM THAT IS SIMPLY NOT POSSIBLE.   SORT YOURSELVES OUT. ... Paula   In pre-approved payments there are different types of payment.   on one type you can change the funding source with no problem.   On older subscriptions, you CANNOT change the funding source. It is irrevocably linked to the card that it was set up for.    I am being told to cancel my subscription to something and set it up again at the merchant end. I have told Paypal I will NOT do this because   a) I will lose a discount that I have on the original subscription   b) It is a Paypal BUG and you won't fix it   I have seen message after message on this forum with the exact same problem.   Paypal helpdesk people seem to have a mental block about reading our messages properly and understanding when we say that we CANNOT do something - we cannot attach screenshots to our messages to SHOW you that we cannot do something, so you have to believe what we say and not frustrating us by giving the same wrong info, over and over again.   FIX THE BUG! ... do you know if invitation priority is being given to people who previously had a Paypal Top-up card? That was a pretty useless item, the only time I tried to use mine in an ATM it was refused.    However, prepaid cards have come on somewhat, I have another one (Cashbackcard -  http://www.cashbackcollector.co.uk) and I would like to have the Paypal one as I would use my Paypal account more rather than Payza (formerly Alertpay)       ...
