You can't use Mastercard after you've hit an arbitrary spending limit.  Don't bother to "verify" by giving them a bank account number.  You still won't be able to use your credit card.  Some merchants have never heard about this.  It's the whole reason for Paypal in the first place. ... View more

I am a very good Ebay customer in good standing with Paypal. I'm unable to use my valid Mastercard even after my account was "verified" (gave them a valid bank account number).  You cannot use Mastercard with Paypal after you hit an arbitrary spending limit.  You have to use a Paypal credit card or an echeck. ... I have reached a "Paypal spending limit" using my valid Mastercard.  I'm able to use the card for "Buy it now" purchases but not for auctions.  I was led to believe that if I gave Paypal a valid bank account number, my "spending limit" for my credit card would be lifted.  I am now a "verified user" (gave them a bank account number) but I am still not able to use my valid credit card for auction purchases.  I've spent time with both Ebay and Paypal customer service but just keep going around in circles.  Bottom line is - Paypal does not take Mastercard. ...
