I have had a similar thing happen to me and I've been on eBay for over ten years. The watched item was an old set of alloy wheels that had pop-out centres but the wheels did need full refurbishment. I prefer the pop-out-centre type as I have a tyre changer that will only work with wheels that have a hole in the centre. The wheels on my car are however the greatly despised solid centre type which also need a special attachment for a wheel balancer and not many tyre stations have these. So there I was having set up a substantial snipe to get the wanted item. Later when I checked I discovered that my snipe had been refused because "Account is not verified". Even worse was the fact that the item received no bids! I am absolutely livid about this fiasco as I should have won the item on a Maiden Bid. The item has been relisted but this time there will probably be a bidding war. Thanks a bunch!
