Yesterday, I came back home, checked my e-mail, and was shocked to find out that one of my PayPal accounts had been compromised. There was a transaction for $250 and then another $37 sent to the same person whom I do not know. Basically, my account had been drained. This happened in the morning while I was still asleep. I wasn't able to use the internet the whole day until I got back home late at night. I filed a dispute right away. However, I am concerned that I might not get my money back. What happens if the other party doesn't reply to my dispute? What if she already withdrew the money or transferred it to another account? Also, I am very concerned as to how this happened in the first place. I have not shared my password with anyone. I changed my password right after this happened. I also have another PayPal account which I logged into right after in order to change my password. I had not logged into this account for a couple of days and I was shocked that this account had ALSO been compromised. About a little over a week ago, I converted my USD to JPY and then didn't log back in until yesterday. i was shocked when I saw I had funds in HKD. I had never set up to receive money in HKD in the first place. I checked my transaction history and a huge chunk of my JPY funds had been transferred to HKD. This transaction was made a couple of hours after I converted USD to JPY, but I never noticed since I hadn't logged in and you don't get an e-mail when you convert currency. I have contacted PayPal regarding this but still no reply. How is it possible that someone hacked into BOTH my accounts? Is it possible that it was just a system error on PayPal's side? I have changed my passwords since then, but I am in fear that it will happen again.
