Is there a way to make a debit or credit card the default without deleting a bank checking acct? I've got a little dilemma, and it's sort of complicated.... I recently made a eBay purchase using my bank checking acct to pay for the order, as opposed to my Paypal acct balance. I received an email from my bank stating that the transaction was declined, which made no sense since there are funds to cover it. I checked with my bank and was informed that the checking acct set up with Paypal can only be used to transfer funds FROM Paypal to my bank, and not vice versa to make purchases. This was news to me, but this was apparently the first time I used the defaulted checking acct to try to make a purchase. Prior to setting up my checking acct with Paypal, I used a debit/visa money card associated with that bank as the default. However, I did not know until that purchase was declined that the debit card AND checking acct are not the same thing (as far as my bank is concerned.) The checking acct is considered 'virtual,' since the routing number is merely associated with their debit card and not a 'real' checking acct. I found some answers here saying I have the option to choose the method of payment at eBay/Paypal checkout, BUT since I added the checking acct to Paypal, my only options in the tab are the "bank checking acct" or "Bill me later" - NOT my debit card anymore. If I delete my checking acct from Paypal - problem solved, as my debit card can become the primary payment form again--BUT I'll have another issue... I started my own online business and set up the checking acct in Paypal for verification, as well as a means to transfer funds TO my bank from customers who use Paypal to pay for their purchases. The only solution I've come up with is buying a Moneypak to upload funds to my Paypal acct, but there has to be something better than using a money card, to buy a money card, to fund an online acct (as well as to pay for yet another "Bill Me Later "account!) Is there a better way? I don't know why my debit card simply can't be used as the default. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
