Hi There- I am hoping for some sounds advice. I placed my first item on Ebay 3 days ago. It is a fairly expensive piece of jewelry. i tried to sell it privately to no avail. After three days, and many views, and a few watchers, I have been approached by someone who is in Italy (supposedly) and wants to complete the transaction outside of Ebay, using PayPal, to save the fees involved on a $2000 item. He has agreed to pay the shipping since it is overseas, if I agree to a slightly lower price (which is actually a price I am comfortable with). My question is, if he makes the payment into my PayPal account, and I ship the item with a request for signature required, what is the risk to me?? I won't ship anything until the money is in my account, but is there any way the buyer can "pull" the money back? I am not naive, and I am sure this is a scam, but there are a lot of fees involved and this eliminates them. He is not asking to do a wire transfer or cashier's check. He just wants an email address to do a PayPal transaction. In the event my item does not sell on Ebay, can someone with some knowledge please tell me what I have to lose here??? Thaks so much!!
