You make a good point on that. I noticed checking today that their price was just slightly better than scotiabanks If you go on bank of canada you wont get accurate amounts as its dealing in NOMINAL rates, when you go to a bank like scotia or td you are not getting nominal rates you are getting nominal plus a conversion fee just like paypal hence the reason why paypals exchange rate is neck and neck with canadian banks. That is what you need to go on. It would be nice though if paypal could just display the amount when they do the conversion underneath the exchange rate i.e keep rate and conversion fee seperate that way for accounting purposes we can tally up the fee and write it off if it can be written off. ( obviously we cant write off exchange rates, but fees we can )

What would be nice to see is the 2.5% clearly shown as a FEE when a conversion is done, right now it only shows the exchange rate INCLUDING the fee, basically the 2.5% is not clearly indicated within each conversion. Meaning YES we know paypal is charging 2.5 conversion fee, thats fine. But for accounting purposes when a conversion has taken place and you click details it should show below the exchange rate the conversion fee amount that they took so that you can know ok if I converted 1000 usa funds to Canadian, the exchange rate took $10 of it and the conversion fee of 2.5% took 4 dollars of it. That way its all clear. Right now all it does is show you the exchange rate. Would be nice to see it a bit more clearer

Hi a question about currency conversion fee It says there is a 2.5% currency conversion fee that paypal charges when converting. Are we charged that only on funds coming into our paypal accounts or does it apply also if we are transferring say USA funds out of our paypal to our Canadian bank account? Basically when withdrawing usa funds to canadian bank account is it figuring it based on exchange rate + 2.5% conversion fee? or just exchange rate?

I'm based in Ontario, Canada. For years I have had a paypal business debit mastercard I rely on it all the time, its fantastic, never had a problem only once when I lost it and paypal sent me a new one quickly. Well i ran into a problem where someone must have got hold of my debt card details and tried to put a payment through ( lucky i caught it same day ) and so I had to as per guidance of paypal deactivate my card and apply for a new one But it doesn't let me apply for a new one now. I was told that there is a glitch in the system for sending debit cards to Canada? Does anyone know about this?? I've always every 2 or 3 years had them send me a new card without issue And I checked with a friend who said he got one last year ( 2011) So unless there has been some change between 2011 and February 2012 with paypal, I am gathering its just as they said and a glitch and maybe it will let me apply in my account in a few weeks??? Any insights on this is appreciated as I love my paypal debit card and use it all the time for business. ( missing it already)
