Hi, I'm new to the forum, and have arrived here largely because I can't seem to get specific help from PayPal itself.
Here is my scenario: It shows my primary currency as GBP £, which is right, as I live in the UK. Most outgoing PayPal transactions I make are in GBP £, so this works fine.
However, I receive 2 separate payments into my account every month, which are paid in USD $. I'll call them Payment A and Payment B.
Payment A arrives in my account in USD, but is then immediately, and automatically converted into GBP £. I can see this in my transactions.
However, Payment B goes in as USD $, but is not then converted automatically. Every month I have made the conversion manually, and, after a bit of juggling in the Manage Currencies screen, the USD amount is converted to GBP and this figure then is added to my account, and again I can see the two transactions. If I don't make the conversion, then it's telling me that, say, I have £500 in my account, but £75 of that is still held in $, say as $100.
Whether something has changed, or I've changed a setting, I can no longer appear to convert a payment from dollars into pounds, and for this then to appear in my account total. Whatever the dollar payment is, I convert that, dollar and cent exactly, so that I'm not attempting to convert more dollars than I have, or less, which leaves a balance.
In the Manage Currency screen, if I use the dropdown 'Payment Conversion', by tweaking the 'to' and 'from' settings between dollars and pounds, I can end up with the correct conversion. But there is then nothing further I can do from here.
If I use the 'Balance Conversion' option, when it gets to the 'from' box, selecting currencies only gives one option, which is British Pounds. I therefore have to put dollars in the 'to' box, which then comes up with a conversion, and the option to 'Continue', but, of course, this isn't correct because it's actually converting the sum as pounds into dollars, not dollars into pounds, but I don't get the full range of currency options on both dropdown menus.
It's really frustrating, and most timeconsuming. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks, in anticipation!
