hello i have tried recently to buy a membership program for my account in an online game called runescape. i tried to buy with paypal but my payment failed. i wrote to them and they sent me this:   '' Your subscription attempts have been declined by our payment security systems – whilst this may sound alarming let me reassure you that it’s nothing to be concerned about.  As we’re an extremely security conscious company, the exact details as to why this has happened are monitored by another department within Jagex.  To ensure the ongoing security of our systems, and to safeguard your personal financial information, I am unable to give you any specific information about why your payment has failed, however, I can give you some general guidance on making a successful payment for our services, below.   When this situation occurs, your bank may have reserved the funds in advance in preparation for making the payments – please note that these may be displayed as ‘processed’ or ‘pending’ payments. Don’t worry, any funds that have been reserved on your card have not been taken by us and will be automatically returned to you by your card issuer – the exact time that this takes will depend on your specific card issuer, but usually occurs within 5 to 10 working days.  Feel free to contact them to get a firm idea of when this will be.   As a general guide, follow these key points as they can help payments to be made successfully:   Make sure there is enough money in the account you are making a payment from. Correctly enter the 16 digit number on your card as well as the security (CVV) number (last 3 digits of the number on the back of your card). Correctly enter the post/zip code (the post/zip code that is registered with your card issuer). Correctly enter the “Verified by Visa”/”MasterCard Secure Code” pass code that is linked to your card (if your card/bank requires this). Select the correct country (the country in which you are making the payment from) for your payment.   Also, as we have not successfully received your payment we have not added membership credit to the account, nor have we started a recurring agreement.   So, as your payment failed, you still need to subscribe the account to become a member. It’s best to wait 24 hours before trying to subscribe again using the same credit card, of course you can try another credit card, or you can use another payment method. More information on the payment options available to you can be found on our subscription page by clicking here.   Feel free to contact us again should you still experience problems paying for membership.
