I do lots of instant transfers and never had a problem until this week. When I called PayPal and complained about the "Instant Transfer" on Friday that has not arrived as of Monday, the PayPal rep informed me that "Instant Transfer" just means PayPal will PROCESS your transfer immediately, but they don't guarantee your bank will RECEIVE it immediately (or apparently, at all). Oh, my bad, when I see something advertised as "Instant Transfer" and I pay an extra fee for it because I'm just dumb enough to assume it means exactly what it says. And guess what? If it doesn't show up, PayPal won't even open an investigation into it for 10 days. They have it all figured out, don't they? Why don't they call it INSTANT PROCESS (since that's really what it is) instead of "Instant Transfer"? Because they know exactly what they are doing to get that little bit of fee out of you, and Instant Transfer sounds exactly like something you want and need even though that isn't what's happening.

I am SO SICK of PayPal changing my donor's user experience without warning! First, they rolled out "suggested donation amounts" without telling me, so to get around that unwanted feature I updated all my links to my PayPal.me link. Now, I find out when someone tries to pay through PayPal.me, they go to a screen forcing them to sign in or sign up for PayPal. This is new, unannounced, and is (once again) having a negative effect on my donation flow. Previously, you could send money via PayPal.me with the OPTION to use PayPal -or- just enter your credit or debit card. I've been a customer for 10+ years and I'm tired of these forced changes that affect my donors. Now I'm forced to look at alternatives to PayPal. Enough.

It seems when someone clicks my donation button they can now choose three predetermined donation amounts or enter a different amount. Sounds nice in theory, if I could test this with $25, $50, $100 or Other Amount; but it defaults to $75, $100, and $150. These amounts are out of line with my typical donation amounts. At a glance it looks like we only want or will accept these amounts. I don't like this and I think it has hurt my donations this week. What really bugs me is PayPal rolled this out without discussing it in advance, and then sent me a survey AFTER to ask my reaction. Here is my reaction: Either put this back the way it was, or give me the option to change those amounts! What you think is an improvement can be a detriment, especially when you don't consult with or ask your customer first. So irritated!

My average transfer is only $350 or so but I make them a few times a week. I was paying 25 cents each which I was happy to pay for the convenience. Then without warning I noticed it is now 1%! The difference between .25 and $3.50 is HUGE. On that transaction, it's what, 1,400% more?!? And with no notice or warning? Ridiculous! After hunting around the PayPal site I found something that says personal PayPal accounts are .25 for instant transfers, but business accounts are 1%. Don't know if that has always been the case or not, but it wasn't the case with the PayPal app until the most recent update. This is a ridiculous fee that penalizes business owners. It takes no more effort to instant transfer from a personal or a business account. I've been a PayPal customer over 10 years and this is shameful and wrong.
