Re: Setting Payment Preferences

So Adrian,        Please explain why payments are automatically transfered from a buyers bank account instead of the credit card on file. My credit card was originally set up as my primary souce of funding. On some purchases I'm not allowed to select my credit card. The box in front of the credit card won't allow me to select it. The box for the checking account option is preselected/checked, but won't allow me to pick the credit card payment option instead. Some purchases allow the switch and some don't. I recently returned to ebay, I was on ebay from about 2001-2005 selling & buying. It didn't used to be this way back then. Do some sellers have preferences selected on their accounts for bank transfers versus credit cards for the payments that they receive? If this is so, then why are the sellers allowed to display credit card logos/icons on their ebay pages? It's confusing and deceitful to allow this "misrepresentation" on their ebay sell pages. Buyers have had overdrafts on their checking accounts thinking that the funds were being paid for with there credit cards. Are the sellers listing credit cards as a form of payment when they sign up for an account and then deselecting this option once they start selling? If so, why does the credit card icon still appear on their ebay sell page? Something is very **bleep**y here!?!?!   ... View more

It always amazes me how large companies will ignore the average person until something is done to something hurt their image. Shine a light on the rats and they go scampering. I'm seriously considering contacting my State Attorney General tomorrow via email. While I'm at it maybe the local St. Louis TV stations. They're usually eager to do stories on crooked companies. Bad press is very bad for business!  Corporatism is Capitalism's ugly sister. Corporations want free trade yet they don't like competion, so they swallow up small companies. They outsource and insource so they don't have to pay a decent wage. They buy their polititians with the help of the 5 crooks in the Supreme Court. They prop up dictators in foreign lands so they can gain access to the wealth of the country. They buy their own media i.e. Fox "News" to make up phoney garbage 24/7(thanks Rupert Murdoch & you're media whores). The owners and CEOs roll around in filthy luxury while people lose their jobs, homes, lives, etc. Their media machine manages to brainwash people to vote against their own interests by playing on their fears, bigotries, religious beliefs and outright ignorance. These same people have the guts to call themselves "Christians", whatever that means anymore. The term Christian Conservative is an oxymoron. Sorry to go off, but Paypal/Ebay is just another money crubbing corporation without a conscience. The only thing they understand is $$$$$$$$$$$$. Go to the press, expose them nationally and sue them via your State Attorney( it does'st cost you anything).   ... View more

Olivia,              If it's true that the sellers are at fault, then why are they allowed to"intice" a buyer with the logos of credit cards that one may use, only to find out once you've won the auction, then it's oh, we only accept bank transfers. Paypal aka Ebay is letting the buyers use these logos, then allowing said buyers to do the "OLD SWITCHEROO" on the buyer. Bait and Switch Baby!!! ... View more

I don't know if it's the sellers or paypal doing this. I paid for another item yesterday and it did it again. I have two credit cards on file with paypal. One is checked as my preferred method of payment. Also my bank is on file with paypal, I'm paypal verified and have a premier account to sell in the future. The sellers show the different credit cards that they accept as payment on their listings, with the picture of the cards, i.e.. Visa, Mastercard. If I hit the BUY NOW icon I'm then directed to another page that's has the COMMIT TO BUY icon. I select that and it then reads "you've made a purchase", or something to that effect. Then the next page shows the options to pay with the BANK FUNDS TRANSFER already pre-checked with a dot in the circle. If I try to check the circle in front of the CREDIT CARD option instead, it won't move over to it. That option lettering is a lighter shade of color that the BANK FUND OPTION. I either accept it or cancel the the whole thing, leaving it bought, but unpaid for and no other way to pay. These auctions stated that Paypal is their only method of payment, so that eliminates checks or money orders(which would cost a fee to get one). I tried writing Paypal and the community forum, but that's worthless. I called Paypal 3 times and got a different Spanish speaking persons each time. No offense to Hispanics, but I can't understand their accents when they're trying to speak English. It appears Paypal has outsourced their support staff to Mexico. The people I called didn't think what I explained to them was possible. I tell them I'm looking right at the screen and its true. So, I say well, I guess were done here, because you can't help me, and GOODBYE. The whole thing sounds like a bait and switch to me. You just get dead ends when you try to solve it. CROOKS!! ... Here's an idea. We all start writing sellers through their 'Ask Seller Question' link. Tell the sellers we were going to bid on their auctions, but since paypal is **bleep**ing us over we refuse to buy their items. After a number of sellers start complaining to Paypal, maybe they'll take notice. Tell the sellers that we're boycotting their auctions and explain why. Do not buy anything for awhile. I'm sure you can go without buying for a month or longer. Lets see who blinks first!! ... View more

I won three auctions, BUY NOW. I went to pay for them with my credit card on file, the card is confirmed on this acct. When the option comes up to pay with credit card or bank funds transfer, it won't let me select the credit card option. The bow for the bank transfer option is pre-checked. It won't let me select the credit card option. A message comes up saying this seller only accepts bank transfers. This is not mentioned on any of the sellers selling pages. Their pages shows all the credit cards they accept. I didn't find any of this out until I had already confirmed that I was purchasing the item as a BUY NOW auction. What a scam, it's false advertising, or fraud. So, I either default on the auctions or am forced to have it taken out of my bank acct. I've been on the phone with paypal three different times and got three different Mexicans with strong accents. What a bunch of crap!!!!!!!!!!! ... View more

CONTACT YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE!! THEY WILL SUE PAYPAL, ESPECIALLY if THEY GET MANY COMPLAINTS.  I sued a  seller for not buying insurance for an item I paid to have insured, the item broke, but seller  ignored my letters. I got my money refunded after the Attorney General sued his **bleep**!  I am also a seller with a 100% rating. Your State Attorney General has a large staff to go after these people. ... View more
