Bank rejection; What's the problem ???????????????

Hi   I am hoping you can help me.   I recently opened a new paypal account and added a bank account to it, and waited for the amounts to go into the bank account. Then I got some e-mail from paypal saying it had been rejected because the account number was incorrect which, it obviously wasn't because the amounts appeared in the account. Anyway, I went to put the amounts in, but the account was gone, and would not let me add it again. I wrote to paypal and they gave me the same answer as the e-mail I think, but either way, they reset the bank set up, and I entered the account again. I waited and this time the amounts appeared in the account but without my getting any e-mails of rejection as I did last time, so went to my paypal account, and the bank account verification process was there so I put the 2 amounts in the fields, and it said I had successfully verified my account.   That was a few days ago (maybe 3 days); Today I get an e-mail saying my account has been "disabled" due to the bank account number being "invalid".   I do not understand what the problem is; This is a working account, with money in it (not that that should matter at the moment as it hasn't been used for anything yet), the deposits went into the account, proving that the account number IS correct, so can anyone enlighten me as to why this is happening. This account is about 3 years old so, it being a recent account can be ruled out.   I also opened a second new paypal account and tried to verify that with the only other account that I have and that too has been rejected in the same way.   The only reason that I can think of is that the accounts are both savings accounts, but they are both instant access accounts, so I would have thought this would accept direct debits. Also, in the bank set up process, there is a radio button for the account type i.e. "current" or "savings". If a savings account is not allowed, then why is there such a button ?   Since I never would be using the account other then to transfer money into it, can I still have the account without verification, as long as I have a back-up credit card on file ? (presumably I would have to contact paypal to get this account restriction lifted so I can add it again).   Thanks.   Any help would be appreciated  ... View more
