@OkiDoki   A friends / family (or gift payment) is intended as a transfer of funds from family or friends to one another. For this reason, there is no processing fee when payment is made with bank or PayPal balance. However as it is a “gift” payment, there is also no Buyer protection as no goods or services should have been exchanged. If he was not a close mate or family member you should never use that option as it enables the seller to evade his paypal fees and negates your buyer protection at the same time. That is also why you would be unable to open a dispute apart from an unauthorised transaction (if your account was hacked and used without your consent). You also risk having your account limited for using this option when you are purchasing goods as its against Paypal rules. Your only hope is if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then contact your card issuer and see if they will help you but unfortunately again as it was a 'gift' of money they may decline as well. ... I tried confirming a different email yesterday too, but had the same problem as you. I then tried another three addresses, but they never sent an email to any of those either.   Looks like they are having more technical issues. ... View more

Go for it! You are NEVER guaranteed of somebody being genuine - confirmed or not. The ONLY thing confirmed means is that the user has linked a bank account to their credit card. Unscrupulous buyers can have bank accounts too.   My  address is unconfirmed and I seriously resent sellers who (just because they had a couple of bad experiences) choose to label me as being a fraudster. I will NOT confirm my address because that involves giving out my bank account details online. Too many people have had their bank accounts wiped out due to hackers and that is something I am not willing to risk. I recently won an auction, and despite reading through the seller's terms and conditions (of which there were many), failed to notice that they will only ship to confirmed PayPal addresses. I contacted them and they said they would accept a Western Union money order. So, I sent payment. However, I got an e-mail from them saying they did not realise they would have to physically collect the money from a Western Union outlet. They did say they would accept my payment , but in future, all payments must be mailed to them. They are based in the US and I am in the UK. They will only accept money order or cheque. However, US banks will NOT accept British cheques, and the last time I checked,  you cannot not mail a British money order to America as they won't accept it.  So, I will NOT be doing business with that seller again as they need to get over their own self importance.   By only shipping to confirmed addresses will lose you customers. As far as I am aware, you are protected shipping to unconfirmed addresses. You should double check that by contacting PayPal/eBay directly.     ... View more
