I agree and continue to be amazed at the public anger directed at paypal. However, like most people, if you don't use paypal it's hard to do business on ebay and they're well aware of that. IMO that's the reason they don't give a rat's **bleep** how much people hate them. But a funny thing happened yesterday. I called ebay checking on a matter having to do with my account, no big deal but I did want it corrected. As the lady was helping me I just asked her if ebay owned paypal. She said no then wanted to know why I asked and I said "I'd better not say I know ya'll are close" The lady kind of laughed quietly and then said "another satisfied customer huh? And that set me off telling my story and lining up lawsuits with the Mississippi Attorney Generals office, basically alot of stuff no one wants to hear unless they can relate. Anyway, she mentioned quietly that it seems doing business on ebay is about to become much easier with little emphasis on paypal. Apparently they're tired of hearing everyone complain to so they're about to either let someone else in or create their own deal. Either way if it comes through ebay you know they'll take care of you and make paypal second team. That tickles me to death and I cannot wait to close my paypal account ... View more

I've been with Paypal over two years and have about 140 transaction and 100% positive feedback. Imagine my surprise back in August when I pulled up my account which had about $1700 but only $15 was available to me. I called them thinking it was a mistake and was told a 21 day hold was put on my account. Why? Then they told me there are several reasons why they would do this and I said "What reason did you use for me?" They couldn't tell me because a computer does it. It took me about 2 weeks of screaming but they finally realized as the nice young man who finally helped me said, that there was no reason whatsoever to put a hold on my account.   Three days ago I was in the post office mailing stamps I had sold on ebay. There was a really long line behind me as the nice lady figured up my postage which was about $200. I used my paypal debit card because it had over $800 in it and it was declined. I had no other way to pay so she tried again and again it was declined. I could hear the people behind me groaning as I tried to explain there was plenty of money in the account but naturally they didn't believe me. So I went outside and called paypal who told me they just needed me to verify some transaction and they had set my account on hold so I would call them. The two transactions they verified were the three that were just declined. I live in a small town and the very next day I went to the store I've been going to for years and proceeded to write a check as I always do and they told me they couldn't take it. Seems a friend of a friend was in the post office at the time.   Tonight I made a small purchase on ebay and my payment was declined by paypal. It seems I've reached my limit and they wanted to verify my checking information which I put in and they said it would need further review and use another account I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER F***ING ACCOUNT!!. When they open this better be taken care of because I have had enough and I cannot imagine a jury in America that will side with a company who holds MY MONEY when they want and collects interest on it. And I will take them in the courtroom. Paypal in my opinion is the worst company in America and judging from what I've read of websites popping up daily with these same horror stories, they will go down. It doesn't take much publicity to make stock prices crash in a major selloff.   And before you think that it happened to me because of reason I didn't reveal, as I said I have been on ebay and Paypal for about 2 1/2 years and approaching 150 transaction with 100% positive feedback. To automatically lift the limit they put on me tonight I must first get a paypal visa then it will be lifted automatically, otherwise I'm **bleep**ed again I guess. Thanks paypal, I look forward to the day you cannot cash your paychecks ... View more

I also wanted to add a note to my previous post. The customer service representatives I have spoken with have been extremely courteous and professional and have done that in spite of my regrettable frustration with them on the phone. I know the people I spoke with have no control over paypal's business practices and I truly feel for them having to talk to irrate customers when they have not been given any suitable answers to pass on to the customers. It has never been my way to express my frustration with those who answer the phones but this time I was told I was as high up the food chain as I could get and my anger was obvious. For that I feel bad and did try to call back and apologize but had no way of knowing who I had spoken with. If any of them happens to read this post I just wanted to apologize for taking it out on them   ... View more

I have just gotten off the phone for the fourth time and still have not been given a specific reason why they have chosen to place my account which contains around $1,750.00 on hold. I have been buying and selling on ebay for over two years now and during that period I have accumulated 103 transactions with 100% positive feedback from the people I have dealt with. Paypal has avoided giving me a specific reason why they have just now chosen to do this and have assured me that they will not take the 21 day hold off of my account for any reason whatsoever. I was given no notice prior to them doing this that told me it was possible and telling me how it could be avoided. I went back and read their reasons under the user agreement for being able to do this and the reasoning is purposely in my opinion so vague so that they can justify it regardless. Based on those reason I would think just about every paypal customer could potentially have a hold put on their money without violation of the user agreement. I think this is unfair and perhaps illegal and I am pursuing every avenue possible to get in on what I'm sure are numerous class action lawsuits. In addition I have contacted the Mississippi Department of Consumer Affairs and the Attorney Generals Office both of which enthusiastically invited me to come in and provide them with all documentation. The attitude expressed leads me to believe that they feel they have a strong case against Paypal and may be pursuing legal action. Last I have contacted an attorney and set up an appointment to see him. He was literally excited about the prospect based on the information I gave him.   I have enjoyed using ebay and regret that I will no longer be able to because it's hard to do business without a paypal account since most buyers require it. They have a true monopoly on the online business and in my opinion count on people knowing that closing their account seriously damages their ability to buy and sell online. I am one person and realize they don't give a rats **bleep** if I'm a customer or not but I will fight this to the very end and have access to the financial means to do that very thing. If nothing else I will get this story out to the world in hopes that others will give thought to business practices that are socialistic in nature and in the end adjust the stock value to reflect the loss of confidence in them. The practice, again in my opinion, is in place so they can improve their cash position and draw untold millions in interest payments on the money. The bottom line is, the money they are holding belongs to me, not paypal, and what they are doing is nothing more than temporary theft. I have never been told by any financial institution nor have I ever heard of anyone being told by any financial institution that they cannot access their funds without giving them a specific reason why. I would appreciate anyone with any information on pending lawsuits or who have experienced a similar situation with them to post here and the website I am creating as I intend on getting every piece of evidence I can to pursue this to the very end. In addition to my money I will be seeking severe punitive damages that I feel confident any jury hearing my case will be more than willing to award me as a way of letting them know that in America this type of business practice is unacceptable.   ...
