Thanks for your reply Olivia.   I know exactly what screen you are describing; yes, it normally appears when I make a purchase everywhere else and pay with PayPal. In fact, up until now, it had also appeared on purchases made through eBay. This time for one reason or another, it didnt't. I was wondering if PayPal had changed this.   So, even though the transaction appears as complete, the bank might still send that code telling PayPal that the account is closed and then the back up funding source will be charged? Or, does the fact that the transaction appears as "Complete" mean that the money has already been taken out of the bank account? ... View more

I hadn't used eBay in a while and just won a small auction for $2.54. I decided to pay with PayPal and proceeded to log in. I pressed a "Pay" button thinking it would bring me to the typical funding source selection screen, but it didn't! It automatically selected an EMPTY/INACTIVE bank account as my funding source, and what's worse, the payment was completed automatically.   Normally, when I use paypal to pay for other things elsewhere I'm able to select my funding source and I usually select a credit card. So, now I'm stumped. Am I going to incur fees either from my bank or paypal? I checked, and the credit card appears to be the back up funding source. I really don't want to incur any fees and really don't think it's fair that they automatically selected my funding source to pay for my auction. Had I known I wouldn't be given the option, I would've sent the payment manually by going to paypal.com directly and entering the seller's e-mail address.   Why wasn't I given the funding source screen?   PayPal should fix this problem, and also, could you guys check where the moeny was taken from?. ... I'd like someone from PayPal to reply and tell me why exactly wasn't a "funding source" screen shown as it typically works with other sales elsewhere. I pressed pay thinking I would go to that screen, in fact, PayPal never showed where the money would be taken from to pay for the eBay auction. ... View more

Well, I understand, but I don't want PayPal having access to my other bank accounts. The problem here is not the bank account that's set to my primary funding source but the fact that I wasn't given the option to select my funding source. What's up with that? ... View more
