I have been a PayPal member for a long time now. I will admit that most of my transactions are purchases through Ebay, but I have sold items in the past and am beginning to do so again. I have become painfully aware of this new Payment Hold policy. I do understand that Paypal and Ebay are trying to protect the buyer but at what cost? Here is how it has worked for me thus far.... I sell an item that is usually to be sent by regular mail, as indicated by my auction. I now have to wait until either the buyer posts feedback, which doesn't always happens OR I input a tracking number using UPS OR 21 days have expired. Again, I understand protecting the buyer, but I think we went the opposite end of the spectrum here. I am now finding that I am charging a nominal fee for regular mail shipping but spending up to $20 on UPS just to be able to get my funds released before 21 days. I cannot pass that shipping charge on to the buyer as a buyer would never pay for UPS shipping for a trading card, etc. (the type of items I'm selling). I believe this to be bias and completely an unfair practice. Essentially PayPal is *making* most people use UPS in order to receive their money as soon as possible. Most people are selling items to make money, not to sit and wait for money. By *making*, i'm saying that people will feel that they have no choice but to use UPS so they can input their tracking number and get their funds released in 3 days. People don't want to sit around and wait for their money - especially when the buyer has had their item for up to 20 days without the seller receiving their funds. My opinion is that PayPal has inked some nice deal with UPS and those who sit at the big table thought this would be a great way to increase UPS revenue because it will only take 1 or 2 times of waiting 21 days for payment and the seller will start to use UPS for all auctions as this is the fastest way to receive your funds. This is an unfair practice!
