Hi! I'm in the UK and sent a friend in the US some funds to help them with their house move. They opened up a Paypal account specifically to get the funds. They've gone through all the procedures to verify their account but haven't been given access to the money and have been advised on the phone that I need to contact the Account Review Department to confirm I'm happy for the funds to be released. The account review department (John!) sent me an email asking that I confirm I had received the goods from the purchase and was satisfied with them etc etc - not really relevant in this case but I understand what they mean. I'm supposed to either phone a US toll free number that I can't call from the UK, or reply through the "contact us" form from my account. I'm on my fifth attempt to contact Paypal through the form but I keep getting unhelpful scripted suggestions back. Every time I'm told there was nothing wrong with the transaction at my end and it is showing as completed, and that she should contact Paypal at her end to find out what the trouble is, but her account has been limited until I confirm everything is okay apparently. All I want to do is email the account review department from my registered email to confirm that everything is okay but there's no contact email and the service email they used to contact me can't be replied to. Any ideas or do I throw myself on the mercy of consumerist.com, the unofficial Paypal help desk? BTW the email from the account review department is legit - they only asked me to verify I was happy and pointed me towards using the "contact us" form - it's not a phishing email.
