Barry, Many thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my question. There's no problem with linking a bank account to the paypal account. But then I read this https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=xpt/cps/popup/FundingMixEducation-outside which says that paypal would always fund a transaction in the order Balance (if any). Instant Transfer from your bank account (if you have registered your bank account). Buyer Credit or PayPal Plus Credit Card. Credit card/debit card. eCheque from your bank account (if you have registered your bank account). I read that as meaning if you have zero balance on the paypal account, paypal would next try to fund a purchase from the bank account. I really would prefer paypal not take money out of my bank account when I buy something. But from what you have said, provided I transfer all received funds out of my paypal account into the bank account before I make any purchases, then I will be able to choose to pay for items using the linked credit card instead? Please can you confirm that this is indeed the case. Regards Nick

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I can't find a definitive answer anywhere. I've been buying on ebay for a while now. All my purchases have been funded by a credit card linked to my paypal personal account. I would now like to try my hand at selling some items on ebay that are cluttering up the house, using paypal as the payment method. Of course to start selling on ebay I must link a bank account to my paypal account. I'd like to continue to fund my purchases solely from the credit card, and leave the proceeds of sales in my paypal account. I would then like to pay all fees from the paypal account, and transfer the balance of the proceeds to the bank account. My intention would be to keep my buying and selling on separate accounts. I don't want to open a second (business) paypal account because this won't be a business. I've read about funding sources, but I cannot work out if there is any way I can do this with my existing personal paypal account once I've linked it to the bank account. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Nick
