Recently, someone hacked into my paypal and added their bank account and transferred over $4000 into their bank account with Wells Fargo. I have never owned a Wells Fargo bank account. I reported it to Paypal and the rep on the phone confirmed that it showed the bank account and a phone number was added on the same day as the transfer, and also used instant transfer to take the funds. She then opened a claim for investigation but after a few days, it was denied saying the transaction showed that it was consistent to my previous transfers. I appealed the case pointing out that any bank transfers I have made in the past has always been to another banking institution that I have had for many years and have never had a Wells Fargo account to tranafer funds into. Appeal was denied and was told to take it up with the FBI. I filed a claim with the FBI for online theft but has someone else had a similar experience and had Paypal take responsibility or action for the lack of security or lack of proper investigation?
