Good news! There is a some hope for those with the same issue. I've just had my amount refunded back to me! So, the same as others, my original request to cancel was rejected. Automated process I am assuming. The money hadn't yet been taken so I opened up a new case disputing the issue. I could see that the amount was apparently for an Ad, so I put through as dispute stating that I had no received this said advert. Obvious I know, because I am disputing the payment but anyway, that was the process I went down. It gave me the option for additional info & evidence if I had any. Wrote a whole spiel about how it is obvious it was a scam etc, so many others are having the same issue, as this thread shows. Also that there was no consistent evidence of previous transactions to show that this could possibly be correct. It was just out of the blue. Submitted screenshots from my FB showing no receipts of purchases & no financial info attached to my profile either. During this time the £300 was taken from my bank account though! Started this on the 13th Jan & the dispute said they'd give the seller until the 23rd Jan to respond & if there was no response in that time that I would be given my refund. No response was given & I now have my refund. I would highly recommend folk doing what @PayPal_JonK said & "check your Billing Agreements and Subscriptions to see if there's anything else there you do not recognize" Saves something like this from possibly happening in the future.
