Seems like many people with this or a similar issue. Most likely, they will just send you a new device. You will have to return your existing device. Ask for this issue to be escalated and for overnight shipping. Just FYI, when you call PayPal, do not ask for Zettle, you will wait on hold forever and sometimes don't get an answer. After entering your security code, just say customer service repeatedly until the system sends you to a regular PayPal agent. Then ask if they can help with Zettle issue, some can. If not, ask them to connect with a Zettle person before transferring you because no one answers otherwise. They will typically do this and save you significant time.
