I got a notification after 7 days that they had charged me 89.90 and immediately double checked all my email receipts and invoices. None of them showed a recurring transaction. Within 5 mins I had gone on thr brainety main site and cancelled my membership. I believe there's a hidden component that by agreeing to pay the initial one time amount, you're agreeing to a subscription. But it's not shown. Within 15 mins I had lodged a case with PayPal. They closed the case without bothering to reply to me. I disputed it, they reopened it and then closed it again by saying they found nothing wrong with this transaction. If by agreeing to pay anything, merchants can want only charge us without our knowledge then how can any of us use this platform safely? Better just to use our credit cards and at least we can raise our disputes directly with our issuing banks rather than this lame organisation.  ... View more

I think you better call your bank first to inform them and ask them to block any further incoming charges from this merchant. At the same time, you need to check the Brainety site and see if you can do a cancellation before the 7 days period is up and they charge you a large sum. ... View more

Go to trust pilot and give a detailed review. The brainety team contacted me to refund me hoping I will edit my review, but of course I didn't. I still managed to get my refund though. This still doesn't change the fact that PayPal is hopeless and doesn't protect their customers. Switching to some other form of payment is safer. ... View more

That's the thing we keep telling you guys and you keep assuming that we signed up during the initial subscription. The posts here say that the subscription option was NOT displayed or shown during the initial sign up. All of us say we signed up for an 8.90 results ONLY. There was no mention of the recurring or an option to Opt out prior to payment as most legit recurring transactions do. All these similar cases and you seem to doubt that we don't have the mental faculty to notice or understand agreements? There was no agreement because it wasn't shown to us upon purchase. A quick search online shows over 100 same cases with this merchant on trustpilot alone. Don't you guys have some risk management or compliance that evaluates whether a merchant is trustworthy enough? Seems like PayPal is itching for a class action suit to happen.  ... View more

Exact same thing happened to me. Also provided evidence of all correspondences and invoice to show there was no purchase agreement between me and merchant. PayPal just closed the dispute. This is just a case of big corporate vs small customer. I will stop using PayPal from now as they obviously have zero care for customer interests and security. ... View more
