I created a new "Buy Now" button from scratch with all the same parameters as the one that wasn't working. In fact, everything in the HTML code was identical except the value for "hosted_button_id", and that's all I changed in the code on my web page. And it worked. Previously I had been cloning buttons from "my saved buttons". Maybe there's a difference between older saved buttons and newly created buttons.
