I attempted to purchase Bitcoin using PayPal with my verified bank account. I did not know, but my bank account did not have the funds to complete the purchase, so it declined the transaction. However, PayPal is showing that I have the coins I attempted to purchase and instead of charging my bank account it made my PayPal account negative which is not what I wanted. I never expected my PayPal account to go negative because of this Bitcoin purchase that was declined by my bank. Now, I can’t do anything in my account until my negative balance is resolved. I assumed if my bank declined the Bitcoin purchase, I simply wouldn’t have the Bitcoin. Instead, my account is now negative and apparently I have the Bitcoin although it won’t allow me to do anything with it because of the negative account balance. When my bank declined the purchase, why did PayPal still buy the Bitcoin? It should have just been a declined transaction and I have no Bitcoin. Unfortunately that did not happen. Is there any way to cancel the Bitcoin purchase and restore my PayPal balance to zero? I never authorized PayPal to continue the transaction if my method of payment failed.
