The lady that emailed me about buying our car off craigslist was "a marine chef at sea" and wanted to buy our car as a surprise b-day gift for her son.  Wanted us to send $1250 of our own money via western union.  She actually gave me a name and address to send it to in Canada - would it be possible to investigate this name and address?  Then came the fake paypal email, even had two different dollar amounts noted  in the email.  What a scammer.   ... Same thing happened to us this week  - selling  a car on craigslist.  This buyer emails and says they want to pay through paypal - she's  a marine chef at sea and doesn't have credit cards, etc and want us to first send $1250 of our own money via western union to her shipping agent and then the money will transfer to our paypal account. Even had a fake email from paypal saying for security reasons they will not transfer the funds until we give the western union transfer number for the shipping fees.  What a scam!   ... View more

I'm pretty confident that the email I received from paypal was a fake.  All of my other emails from paypal refer to me by my full name, not my email address.  And this one was addressing me with my email address.  There was even an error in the dollar amount!  Rotten people. ... View more

This buyer is a scammer; they just did the same thing to us with a car we have on craigslist.  wanted us to take $1250 of our own money and wire it to their shipping agent and then after that we would get the payment through paypal.  Said she was a marine chef at sea with limited access to internet - no credit cards with her, etc.  Don't give them any of your info.     ... We too have a car for sale on craigslist.  Had a buyer within 2 days!  This time it's Sandra Bradley, Marine Chef at sea.  Here's a few of the emails.  She/he actually wanted us to wire $1250 to a canada address for shipping charges and we would get that paid back to us via paypal.  Seemed too suspicious. The last email she signed the wrong name!  Here are a few of the emails:   Hi there, Thanks for the prompt response, The price is okay by me. I am buying it for as surprise birthday gift for my son because i wont be able to participate on his birthday because i am at sea at the moment as i am a marine chef and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it, So i will be paying you via Western Union because i don't have access to my bank account on-line, but i can instruct my sectary to go and send the money via Western Union, So, i will need you to give me your receiver's name so i can instruct my sectary to make the payments asap, I have a pick up agent that will come and pick it up after the payments. Cheers Sandra. Hi, I will be responsible for everything charges from PayPal over this transaction because i have already inform them.. I have already explain to you that i can activate my bank account online but it has been attached with my PayPal account, So.. it will be more easy for me to pay you through my PayPal account.. I want you to know that i am a serious buyer and i only do business base on  trust and understanding. I will be so glad if you can be real with me. Thanks Sandra. Hi- I was just about to transfer the payment when i had this little problem with the pick up of the item. The logistics agent i was able to negotiate the pick up of the item with said i will have to pay commission fee in advance, directly to their corporate international head office in Canada. where all payment deposit are made to, for any logistics services across the globe and the only form of payment they accept is via western union money transfer. They charged me and we agreed at $1,250 for pick up and delivery to door step, (fist class treatment). I will have to add the commission fee of $1,250 to the total money i am transfer into your PayPal account and i will need you to help me reimburse the shipping fee and send it over to them in their corporate international: head office in Canada. Through western union money transfer, so that i can be rest assured my appointment for the pick up is arranged and secured. The western union transfer can be made from any post office or online as well at <www.westernunion.com>..i would have done it myself, but i will need a credit card which i did not bring aboard, i am a little incapacitated..I will be making the payment shortly and will want you to get back to me before i get the money transferred. OK! Make sure you remove the ad from market immediately so it does not further generate interest..? Note: My shipping agent will have to show up with a purchase form/payment receipt copy from me as proof, so, Kindly send me your address so that the agent can ring  you and figure your address out while coming for the pick up at your appropriate time/day of the week. Cheers Debby. ... View more

same thing just happened to us this week on a car we have for sale.  This time it was Sandra- fake shipping company - wanting us to send $1250 via western union to a person in Canada and then she would add that money as payment to our account. Received a fake receipt from paypal saying the money would be transferred once we gave a western union confirmation# that we transferred the money.   She did give a name and address to send the money to - any way to trace that???  Said she was a marine chef on a boat - limited access to internet and phone.  Yet she emailed us every night, and apparently lots of other people! ... It is not always Tracy  - I was just about scammed on the purchase of a car.  Same thing - send a western union payment for shipping costs - fake email from paypal, etc.  This time it was Sandra - and they used 2 different email address when they replied to us.  And she signed one of the emails as "Debby".  Must have forgot who she was!  I'm glad I investigated further.  Said she was a marine chef on a boat - didn't even want to see pictures of the car. Said it was a surprise gift for her son.     ... View more

OMG!!  We were scammed as well (well, she didn't get our money, I had a bad feeling so I did some investigating tonight).  We were selling a car on craigslist and along comes this "buyer".  I just looked back on the emails that she sent and I notice that her email address changed.  It came from Sandra.    All of the same typos as everyone else received and requesting a western union payment to cover shipping charges.  Here's one of the emails I received right after I said I could accept payment through paypal.  I just sent her an email explaining that I don't have money to send a western union payment and told her how she could do it herself.  In another email she said she was a marine chef on a boat with limited access to internet and phone. She was buying this car as a surprise b-day gift for her son since she wouldn't be able to be home with him for his b-day.   Here is one of her emails below.  One of her most recent emails was signed as "Debby". She must have forgot who she was for a moment.  This just makes me sick!!!!   Email from Sandra:  I was just about to transfer the payment when i had this little problem with the pick up of the item. The logistics agent i was able to negotiate the pick up of the item with said i will have to pay commission fee in advance, directly to their corporate international head office in Canada. where all payment deposit are made to, for any logistics services across the globe and the only form of payment they accept is via western union money transfer.
