Thank you for posting to the PayPal Sandbox Community.
Sandbox never sends notifications to real email addresses. Instead sandbox emails are sent to the Developer dashboard, if the sandbox account is attached to your developer account. It doesn't matter if the email is invalid for sandbox accounts.
You can update the email address in your business sandbox accounts:
Log into your sandbox account at https://sandbox.paypal.com
Click on your name
Click on Account Settings
Click on Account owner information
Click Update next to Email
Click the plus to add an email
If the Sandbox account is attached to your developer dashboard you can confirm the email by logging into the developer dashboard at https://developer.paypal.com and clicking on Testing Tools and then clicking on Sandbox Notifications. You should see the request to confirm the email. You can only set a confirmed email to the primary email.
If you are not able to log into your sandbox account, here are the steps to resetting your sandbox passwords for any sandbox account attached to your Developer Account:
Log into the developer dashboard at https://developer.paypal.com
Click Accounts under Sandbox
Click three dots next to Manage accounts
Click View/Edit Account
Click Change password
Put in new password
Save changes
