I have dealt with 3 different Paypal "specialists" regarding this problem. NONE could give me any solution. One had no idea... she kept insisting that there should be a way to bypass it on their site, then she went to find a manager and proceeded to hang up on me. The second was in the "CHAT" from their Facebook page. That person told me to call one of their phone numbers to speak to a "specialist". I did and spoke to another of their "specialists" who had no solution either. They are insisting that you provide a mobile number (the second phone specialist even asked me if I would give her a friend or relatives number). They only thing these people are specialists in is mistreating and lying to their customers. It looks like Paypal is somehow in bed with the cell carriers and/or scammers. It seems to be mandatory to provide a mobile number. I will be cancelling my account because Paypal obviously does not care about customers and is trying to FORCE people to either disclose their cell # or get a cell phone if they don't have one. I will not have my account held hostage over a mobile phone number. I can't even believe this is legal! DISGUSTING COMPANY. It used to be really good, but over the past few years, they have gone downhill and now I simply don't trust them.
