PayPal is requesting that I go to the local NSW Police, who have no legal jurisdiction in this matter, during a time when the Covid Delta variant is spreading unchecked in our area. Our Police force has far more important things to do. The item I was supposed to receive was an electric waterpistol, what I received was a tiny fake gold and diamond ring, the seller was based in China. The fake item too a long time to arrive and I had already filed a complaint with PayPal but they said to wait a while longer, then the stupid ring eventually arrived. I do not want to take unnecessary risks with Covid exposure or be hassling the police. I thought I had automatic buyer protection when I purchase online through PayPal? This does not seem to be the case? I run an online business myself and a large percentage of my buyers use PayPal because they assume it's the safest way to transact online. Are we all being mislead? Are buyers in Australia totally exposed to scam online operators?
