Evidently the USPS is VERY, VERY aware of this scam. I recently tried to purchase three (3) STEEL Slats for a queen sized bed. The seller did NOT communicate at all (confirm or delivery ... or anything). When I reached out to PayPal, they were given a USPS tracking number that said the "ITEM" was delivered to my mail box at a given time in the afternoon. Our mail ALWAYS comes in the morning... always for 34 years. The delivery address was NOT MINE. The USPS said "it was way off of my address." The "ITEM" delivered weighed 0.48 oz - about the weight of an empty envelope ... DEFINITELY NOT THE WEIGHT OF THREE (3) STEEL SLATS FOR A QUEEN SIZED BED. I filed a claim with PayPal; but because they were given a valid - BUT NOT APPLICABLE - tracking number, they denied my claim. One, mail delivered to mailbox at 4:05 PM BUT our mail always arrives in the morning; TWO, the tracking number "ITEM" was delivered to a different address -NOT MINE/"..way off"; THREE, the tracking number item weighed 0.48 oz - for THREE(3) STEEL SLATS FOR A QUEEN-SIZED bed?????? Has a fake - but valid - tracking number accepted by PayPal ever cost YOU money? Is this scam - taking advantage of PayPal's policy - ever happened to you? Evidently the USPS is so aware of this that they will automatically connect you to their fraud service so that you can initiate a case. If this is so prevalent that the USPS has a protocol for it, why does PayPal continue that policy? ... complicit?
